TASK 2: Analysis & Ideation

Write a 300 to 350 word visual analysis of the selected design.
In Task 1 I selected an artwork to task. Here is my chosen artwork :
Fig.1.24: Void by avogado6
Year: 2019
Size: 3501*2917px

Observation
The painting in Fig.1.24: Void by avogado6  is composed horizontally with a light primary colour scheme containing white, grey and red. In the centre of the picture is a white-haired character standing with his head bowed and a black square area on his chest. Surrounding them are multiple grey silhouetted characters, who also have square areas on their chests, but with an interior pattern of blue sky and white clouds.
Each grey character is holding a red thread in their hands, with one end of the thread connected to a chest cavity and the other end connected to a red heart-shaped balloon. The central grey-haired character's red thread is hanging down in his hand and the balloon is broken.
The overall image uses clean lines and muted colour blocks to present a quiet and slightly sad atmosphere.
Fig.1.1:  Analysis of Void
· Analysis
The painting Fig.1.1  Analysis of Void cleverly uses cleverly uses Emphasis to highlight the white character in the centre through visual contrast. He is the only character with five senses in the picture, he is lighter in colour than the others. These elements form a strong visual contrast so that the viewer's eyes naturally rest on the protagonist and feel his isolation and loss.
Repetition is also used to create a sense of rhythm and order. The grey character holding a heart-shaped balloon appears repeatedly in the picture. This repetition enhances the unity of the image.
Contrast is also used, with the bright reds and blues of the blue sky in the balloon and the hole contrasting with the grey and white of the character.
The composition and arrangement of elements in the picture can effectively guide the viewer's eyes. Firstly, the audience will notice the only different protagonist because of the image's emphasis on the protagonist. Then the audience will be attracted by the repeated grey characters. At the same time, the red line of the balloon creates a visual path that directs the eye from the group to the protagonist's hand, eventually landing on his hand where he lost the balloon.

· Interpretation
Fig.1.24 Void by avogado6 is an illustration by illustrator avogado6 in 2019. avogado6's previous works show that he is very good at expressing complex psychological issues with simple images. In the sense of design, this piece of artwork may be expressing the loneliness of an individual, the closeness of their inner world, and the feeling of being out of place with the group.
In terms of the purpose of creation, this illustration may be intended to provoke the viewer to think about social relationships, self-identity and mental health. It may symbolise depression, loneliness, or the struggle of the individual under the pressure of social assimilation.

2. Ideation
Fig.1.2: Sketch 1
For
Fig.1.2: Sketch 1 I used emphasis and repetition like Fig.1.24: Void by avogado6,but
I moving the main character to the middle and reinforcing the repetition of the grey characters around them to enhance the loneliness of the character.I also made all the grey characters face away from the audience so that the main characters would be more prominent.

· Sketch 2
Fig.1.3: Sketch 2
For Fig.1.3: Sketch 2, I modified the artwork Fig.1.24: Void by avogado6 I chose earlier, choosing to remove the red balloon and the window on the chest, and make the distinctive elements into a light bulb head cover..
Fig.1.4: Sketch 3
In Fig.1.4: Sketch 3, I still apply the design principles of repetition and emphasis in the artwork Fig.1.24: Void by avogado6. Just have everyone face the protagonist and put on a mask.

Week 4
General feedback: For the Analysis part, we need to add pictures while writing text explanations, and analyze in the figure.
Specific feedback: In the Analysis part, many points explained in the figure are not explained in the text, so it is necessary to improve the text and write clearly.

Week 5
General feedback: The sketch should not contain shadows and colors, it is better to just be the original lines.
Specific feedback: The indication of the image should be written Fig with a colon after the label. The text below each caption should refer to the picture described.
