TASK
TASK1 - Individual Game Ideation
1. Instruction
Individually come out with a game idea (or many ideas, remember the
limitations), and make your first game pitch. Try to find the most
creative and effective way to convey your game ideas. This may not end up
being your Final Project, but will still contribute to your Continuous
Assessment grade. Hence document the process in your blog.
2.Ideation
For this task, I have two ideas.
Ideation 1: The Living Thing
Genre: 2D Puzzle / Strategy Game
Core Concept:
You play as a cute little ghost defending your haunted manor from two
reckless intruders. By possessing ordinary objects (windows, doors, lamps,
picture frames), you try to scare them until their sanity (SAN) drops to
zero.
Inspirations:

Haunt the House: Terrortown – but with improvements like SAN bars,
flashlight mechanics, and more strategic tension.
After that, I drew a simple diagram based on my inspiration.

Player Role: Ghost with the ability to possess and manipulate objects.

Abilities: Shake, flicker, slam, or distort items.
Challenge: Avoid flashlights carried by humans. If they shine on you, your
HP decreases.

Win Condition: Both intruders’ SAN reaches zero → they panic and flee.
Lose Condition: The ghost’s HP is depleted.
Core Mechanics:
SAN Bar → decreases when intruders are disturbed or frightened.
HP Bar → ghost loses health when exposed to flashlight beams.
Gameplay Loop → choose item → scare humans → avoid flashlight → win/lose.
Art & Style:
2D pixel or hand-drawn style.
Cute yet spooky (non-bloody horror).
Ghost design: round, chubby, expressive.
Gothic cartoon manor with exaggerated effects (e.g., windows growing eyes).
Ideation 2: Tricat
Genre: 2D Platformer (Puzzle + Exploration)
Inspirations:
Fig.2.4 Super Cat Tales
Super Cat Tales (pixel art, character charm).
Celeste (precise platform puzzle design).
Super Phantom Cat (character reference).
Core Concept:
You play as a cat spirit with three elemental forms based on the states of
water. Your mission is to restore the polluted forest by collecting energy
while overcoming obstacles and puzzles.

Liquid Cat (Default Form): Standard jump/run, can swim, squeeze through
gaps.
Ice Cat (Solid Form): Heavy, slower but can smash obstacles.
Gas Cat (Air Form): Floats with fans, reaches higher platforms, fragile to
solid impacts.
Gameplay Loop:
Start as Liquid Cat.
Traverse platforms, dodge traps.
Switch forms to solve puzzles.
Collect energy to purify the forest.
Reach the stage goal.
Art & Style:
Pixel art, bright colors, clean outlines.
Worlds inspired by forest, caves, icy mountains, rivers.
Distinct animations for each cat form (fluid, crystal, cloudy).
