Week 6 (28/MAY/2024)
In this lesson we reviewed and emphasised again the fundamentals of principles of design.
The fundamentals of principlesof design are first emphasis and the second balance and alignment , contrast, repetition this proportion , movement and then we have white space before.
Poster Design
Introduction to Design Principles
The principles of design are essential rules that a designer must follow to create an effective and attractive composition.
Fundamental principles include: Emphasis, Balance and Alignment, Contrast, Repetition, Proportion, Movement, and White Space.
A design does not have to strictly follow these rules to be considered “good.” Some exceptional designs may ignore one or more principles to create a unique and effective work.
The 7 Principles of Poster Design
Emphasis
Emphasis involves making a particular element stand out to capture the viewer's attention.
Balance and Alignment
Balance ensures a design is evenly distributed, while alignment arranges elements in a visually appealing manner.
Contrast
Fig.1.2 Contrast
Contrast makes a design "pop" by creating space and differences between elements. It ensures readability and visual interest by making the background significantly different from the elements.
Fig.1.3 Repetition
Repetition unifies and strengthens a design. Using repeated elements like typefaces or colors can create a motif, adding consistency and cohesiveness.
Fig.1.4 Proportion
Proportion relates to the visual size and weight of elements in a composition and their relationship to each other. It often helps to approach the design in sections.
Fig.1.5 Movement
Movement controls the flow of elements in a composition, guiding the viewer's eye from one element to the next and effectively communicating the intended information. It creates the narrative of the work.
White Space
Tutorial :
Mister gave us three extra learning videos to get us to know some of the basics of photography.
1. PROJECT 1B - PART 2: Recoloring Black and White

Practical
Exercise2(Week6: Recoloring Black & White)
Part1
In week 6, we are to recolour a black and white image following this YouTube tutorial by Mr. Martin.
Fig.2.4 & 2.5 Recolouring progress and final recoloured photo
I used the “Overlay” blend mode because the “soft light” made the color of the photo a bit strange. I used an Adjustment Layer to adjust the saturation because the skin color selection looked a little pale. I also added shadows to the face to make it look less flat.
Part2
For part 2 of Exercise 2, we are to follow along with this demo of advanced recolouring.
Here are some of the layers I used.

Finally, to make the woman's face look better in the photo, I also tried painting blush with the brush tool and put a little highlight on the mouth.

As with the last one, I wanted the photo to look more realistic and I still used the brush tool to give her blush and highlights.

Feedback
Week6
The task of re-coloring was very interesting, and I learned a lot about Photoshop knowledge and application skills, and I had a lot of fun.
